At the last assembly meeting Monday night, we discussed in detail the upcoming seminar for KU undergrads "Q&A with GSA: Grad School From a Student's Perspective". The event will provide an opportunity for KU undergrads to mix and mingle with current KU grad students and ask a panel every question that they might have about grad school. KU undergrads will get an insider's perspective on classes, professors, graduate assistantships, and a "day in the life" of a graduate student. We also hope to have a separate table for each degree program in which students can go to for information and to ask specific program questions before and after the panel Q&A. We are in the process of appointing a panel of about 5 or 6 students. Please let me know if you are interested in being a part of the panel or if you'd like to represent your program at one of the information tables. The event will be held on Tuesday, March 30th from 11 - 11:50 a.m. Snacks and refreshments will be available.
The next general meeting is Thursday March 4th at 4:30 p.m. in room 323 of the SUB (please note the different room location). We will be covering the Q&A seminar, our involvement in Science Olympiad, and we should have an update on our grant request. The second half of the meeting will be a Library Resources presentation with Assistant Professor Bob Flatley. Bob will be going over some exciting new tools made available to KU students by the Rohrbach Library, including Ebrary, which is a collection of over 30,000 academic e-books. Pizza and refreshments will be served.
Also, we are still looking for more volunteers for Science Olympiad. Many of us will be volunteering as a "tour guide", but there are still a wide variety of positions available. Please let me know if you are interested in lending a hand. It's going to be a really fun day.
